The Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) is a government initiative introduced to provide support for homebuyers looking to purchase a property. First introduced in 2019, this campaign helps to promote homeownership in Malaysia.
What does it mean to you?
With a growing desire to own a home post Movement Control Order (MCO) especially in urban areas, you will be getting financial incentives as part of the scheme.
What financial incentives you are asking?
This round HOC will carry the same set as benefits as previously in HOC 2019, notably:
- Stamp duty exemption. You will be getting a stamp duty exemption on the Instrument of Transfer and Instrument of Loan Agreement for the purchase of residential homes priced between RM300,000 to RM2.5 million.
- 10% discount. You will be able to enjoy at least a 10% discount on your property purchasing price from the property developer.
*Effective for Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) signed between 1st June 2020 to 31st May 2021.
Should you be taking advantage of HOC?
Yes, you should! With all the benefits you are receiving, you get to save some of your money and use it for something else like the renovation cost or the furniture.
Which project is under HOC?
The HOC 2020-2021 only applies to new properties registered under the campaign and must be registered with the relevant authority in each region:
- Peninsular Malaysia: Properties registered with Real Estate & Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (REHDA)
- Sabah: Properties registered with Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHAREDA)
- Sarawak: Properties registered with Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA)
